Boutique Rugs: Reviews, Prices, Pros and Cons 2024

The name Boutique Rugs may not carry the same weight as other rug or flooring manufacturers we cover, but they have an impressive lineup of area rugs that range from 2’ x 3’ in size to well over 10’ feet on all sides.

They also have one of the better fiber selections we’ve seen, which is ideal if you are in the market for an eco-friendly rug. We’ll touch on those and more in our Boutique Rugs review so you’ll have a better understanding of the brand and what they bring to the table.

Boutique Rug Collections

Boutique Rugs gives consumers the ability to dig through their massive catalog in a number of ways. You can filter rugs by color and size or narrow the field by price as well. There are no standard collections to choose from, however, so we’re going to focus on styles and fibers in this review.

Traditional Area Rugs

One of the larger selections of rugs overall from Boutique are in traditional styles. These styles encompass multicolored patterns like Neola and Spring which are manufactured by Hauteloom. They are machine-woven rugs made from 100% propylene whereas colors in the Derrimut Collection are made from New Zealand wool and have toned-down styles.

If you’re interested in something brighter, but still traditional, the Mastic Area Rug will stand out in faded orange. The Swansea rug has an interesting palette of purple, pink, and blues while the Vandervoort area rug is perfect for homeowners that are partial to pink. There are dozens of faded Persian-styled rugs as well like Parkfield, Tahmoor, and Monterey.

There are not many solid colors in this series, but there is a little something for everyone with over 600 options. Sizes are just as varied as you can find small area rugs under 4’ x 6’ along with rugs 10’ x 14’ in size or larger. A handful of styles use Jute and Cotton, but wool blends and synthetic materials are more prevalent.

Geometric Rugs from Boutique

On the opposite end of the spectrum are geometric rugs. Here you’ll find hundreds of designs in geometric patterns that range from mild to a bit wild. The Valdosta and Keasbey area rugs definitely fall into the latter category and are made from a mix of 60% polypropylene and 40% polyester. The Etta area rug is just as vibrant, but with a much more traditional pattern.

No rug collection is complete without at least one leopard print, and you’ll find them with the Coolspring area rugs. They have a geometric border and come in three colors while the Idyllwild rug is a beauty that’s difficult to describe. Most of these rugs are made from a mix of synthetic fibers, but there are a handful of geometric rugs made from wool as well.

If you’re looking for something retro, Satartia is a great fit in tones of brown, ivory, and tan. Wigton is a solid-colored rug that’s available in four hues and hand-tufted. The most vibrant wool rug is Atlantic in aqua and cream, while Meltham keeps things simple in black and white. Most of the styles in this series are heavily influenced by a contemporary design with bohemian coming in second.

Kids and Novelty Rugs

A good rug will work in any room of your home, including high-traffic areas and children’s rooms. Boutique has an entire section dedicated to novelty rugs and are rugs designed for kids' rooms, although not in the typical styles homeowners may be accustomed to.

You won’t find rugs covered in dinosaurs or cute little animals from Boutique. Those have been replaced with simpler designs like Sylva, Dawsonville, and Hurleyville, which feature a series of trucks. Sailboats are an option through Wanette and Vintondale while Carluke is an excellent choice for space cadets. There are plenty of options in pink or floral patterns as well with Ascutney, Amite, Swartswood, and Mcveigh.

Older kids have something to choose from in this series as well through half-dozen abstract patterns. Beavertown is bright, geometric, and colorful while Allegheny has a more modern sense of style. As for the novelty rugs, the truck area rugs fall into that category alongside Guntown and the Bland Area Rug. The most unique option from this category is Scribner, however, with its multi-textured design.

Rugs made from Natural Fibers

Normally when we review an area rug company, we have a sustainability section. That’s to let people know where the company stands when it comes to their environmental practices, along with the types of fibers they use. As an importer, there isn’t much information on the company’s environmental policies, but they do have a large selection of rugs made from natural fibers.

One of the more prevalent natural fibers from Boutique is Jute. It comes in solid colors like Herndon and Buttonwillow as well as multicolored area rugs like Gibsonia. Textures range from find to chunkier styles like Cuttyhunk with its thick hand-woven construction. Prefer something a bit finer? Then consider an area rug made with a mixture of Art Silk.

While not as exotic as Jute, there are several rugs made from 100% cotton like Armona with its blue and navy stripes. Most of the rugs in this series have an earthen tone, however, which includes tan, ivory, charcoal, and light green. The Stephentown area rug is an exception as it's black with a pattern resembling snakeskin.

Other Styles from Boutique Rugs

Another interesting area from Boutique rugs are their “One of a Kind” area rugs. Despite the name, they are not one of a kind but handcrafted by artisans from around the globe. The majority of the area rugs in this collection like Barkley are made from wool and listed as hand-knotted. These premium rugs range from $500 to over $2,000 and while listed as traditional, they are largely Persian and Oriental.

Shag rugs have been a popular staple in homes for decades, but the ones from Boutique are entirely different from the retro rugs of the 70s. These designer rugs come in an array of patterns including animal prints and southwestern rugs like the Amoret. These gorgeous synthetic rugs are comfy underfoot with a high pile and more than 100 options to choose from.

Outdoor area rugs can be hit or miss when it comes down to the design. Boutique excels in this area, however with an array of more than 300 patterns. There are colorful solids like Weobley and Aberkenfig. Most have a low pile, although rugs like Elsenham are an exception. As you’d expect, these rugs are made from synthetics so that they can withstand the outdoors.

Boutique Rugs Cost and Availability

When it comes to pricing, Boutique Rugs has one of the broader ranges on the market. That’s a good thing from a consumer's perspective, although we feel their rugs are priced higher than the competition across the board. Given the fact some rugs can cost more than $3,000, it’s safe to say they have plenty of premium area rugs in their collections.

They sell directly to the public and often hold sales which slash prices on their rugs considerably. The company offers free shipping and easy returns as well. Boutique Rugs Pros, Cons, and Ratings

Boutique is one of the larger online retailers of area rugs. Their rugs are imported and handcrafted although not exactly cheap when compared to other brands like Mohawk or Rite Rug. They are a premium brand, however, and it shows in their products. There are a few sparse areas in their collection in regards to fibers, but overall they have a lot to offer and almost every rug comes in a variety of sizes.
