Bella Cera Hardwood Reviews and Cost 2024

Hardwood flooring is generally sold in tiers as you have budget-friendly products and planks that are in the premium class. Most manufacturers use this approach to provide consumers with a wealth of options across their product lines, but some companies choose to focus on one end of the quality spectrum. That’s the case with Bella Cera hardwood flooring as they only sell high-quality hardwood flooring that’s crafted using old-world techniques.

Bella Cera Floors Review

Bella Cera specializes in producing hardwood flooring. While they do have some luxury vinyl flooring available, hardwood floors are what the company is known for. Where some manufacturers crank out planks with machined textures, Bella Cera’s hardwood flooring is hand-crafted in the traditional way. Their approach produces an endless array of unique flooring, and they have more far more collections than other flooring companies as well.

Bella Cera Hardwood Collections

Bella Cera’s official site lists every collection the company makes, so there are over 30 collections to dig through if you want to check out their full catalog. Unfortunately, what’s available in one part of the United States may not be around in another as their lineup, and how it’s carried can vary from state to state in some cases.

With that in mind, were going to focus on how the company produces its hardwood flooring while touching on some of their collections. Bella Cera makes both solid hardwood and engineered flooring. While their solid hardwood flooring is top of the line, they designed their engineered flooring in a different manner than most manufacturers.

The company uses several layers of wood which are cross-stacked instead of a single strip which adds stability while ensuring your floors stay free of moisture. It an ideal choice if you’re concerned about cupping or other issues that can become a problem over time with traditional solid hardwood flooring. You can sort by engineered or solid on their site, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll want to set aside some time before browsing the full Bella Cera Hardwood Collections

Species

One of the easiest ways to find the flooring you want is to simply shop by species. Currently, the company only carries domestic species aside from Acacia and French Oak. You can choose from Maple, Hickory, Birch, Cherry, Ash Oak, and Beech, but those are just the “regular” planks as the company has some very interesting options.

If you want something with a little more character, one of their Hickory Visual or French Oak Cracks & Knots Visual may be a better fit for your home. 2-tone Hickory Visual is another unique alternative along with Sliced Face Engineered Oak, Florentine Hickory and Saw Mark French Oak Visual flooring. While we would have liked to have seen a few exotic kinds of wood in the mix, their overall selection is impressive.

Colors

This is an area that comes down to personal preference. While most hardwoods flooring is designed to show off woods natural grain and color, stains can open the doors to exciting new possibilities. With Bella Cera flooring, you can browse their collections by shade or color family.

Light, medium, and dark are the three sortable shades, but the color family section can really help you narrow things down. There are several traditional colors like White, Yellow, Gray, Brown and Golden. There’s nothing too wild although there are dozens of variants like Copper, Warm Orange, Light Beige and Earthy Clay as well.

Textures & Finishes

Coloring can add depth to an otherwise ordinary board, but it doesn’t provide the same degree of detail as texturing. Most flooring manufacturers rely on machines to scrape or brush their flooring. Bella Cera does it the old-fashioned way by using artisans who are trained to read the details in each piece of wood and bring them to light by hand.

True Hand-Scraped vs machine scraped hardwood

Traditional texturing options from Bella Cera include wire-brushed, sleek & smooth or 100% hand-scraped or 100% wire-brushed. They can also distress wood by hand using a number of techniques or give it a thick double-dose of stain. Smoked and Aged flooring is also an option and something you won’t find elsewhere. Whether you like chatter marks or worn wood, they have you covered.

As for the finishes, the company uses an aluminum oxide-based product from Valspar. It’s a unique blend that gives a layer of protection to your flooring while highlighting its natural beauty without covering it up. The finish has enhanced UV protection to protect your floors from fading and is guaranteed to not yellow over the decades.

Most of the products we checked had 8-coats of Valspar Ultra. We couldn’t find any information on how many times you can refinish or sand engineered flooring although we did see products with 4mm of veneer which is excellent. Regardless, durability shouldn’t be an issue with Bella Cera flooring, just keep the hardness rating of the species in mind.

Sizes

It’s not unusual to see flooring manufacturers experiment with milling techniques or produce boards in different widths. Bella Cera is no different in this regard, although the size of the flooring they offer is another perk of choosing this brand.

Bella Cera gives you three options with plank width as you can choose from Fixed, Variable, or Varying. Fixes sizes come between  4” to 7.5” depending on the collection and color you choose. While those widths are common aside from the 7.5” planks their variable-width flooring is truly unique. Collections like Villa Bocelli series that use this technique feature a mix of 4”, 5”, and 6” boards.  Lengths can be variable as well buy generally ranged from 15” to 60” long on most of the products we checked.

The Green Factor

As mentioned, the Bella Cera hardwood collections are made from domestic species so exotics woods aren’t something you’ll find in their catalog. They are an eco-friendly company in that regard by only using wood from areas where trees are replanted as they are harvested and though using CARB-certified manufacturers.

Bella Cera also ensures no by-products from their flooring go to waste. From the sawdust to the bark of each tree, all the material is put to use by the company. It’s also good to know VOCs and off-gassing will not be a problem with their flooring. Their finishes are just as eco-friendly as their flooring, so they are HAPs and VOC-free.

Bella Cera Hardwood Cost

Bella Cera hardwood may be a high-quality product, but it’s one you aren’t likely to find through hardware stores. You’ll need to turn to authorized dealers and flooring stores that carry the company’s products, and again, the viability and brand name can vary by region. Our pricing table only covers the company’s engineered flooring as their solid hardwood products are generally not sold online.
