Most area rugs found in the United States are manufactured in other countries. That’s due in part to the rugs themselves considering some require artisans only found in certain parts of the world. When we come across a brand that manufactures rugs in the states we tend to take notice and Orian is a family-owned company that only produces rugs made in the USA.
Orian Rug Collections
Orian Rug Collections
Orian’s rug collection isn’t the largest we’ve covered, but what they lack in numbers, they make up for in variety. At present, they have around a dozen collections with anywhere between two to eight styles each. With that in mind, the Boucle Collection is the company’s largest.
Biscay is a transitional area rug from the Boucle Collection that’s available in two colors with Driftwood and Natural. It’s made from polypropylene with a sculpted texture that adds a touch of elegance to any room in your home. Salvador is also sculpted, but with a completely different feel. Homeowners that prefer geometric medallions will want to consider Cerulean Silver with its eye-catching design.
That particular rug is in the casual class whereas rugs from the Veranda Collection have more color and flair. It’s also where you’ll find floral patterns like Paisley and Garden Chintz, which are woven from yard-dyed polypropylene. Ethridge is in the same vein and made from the same materials, but in dark brown which contrasts against bright floral design.
There are several retro designs in this collection as well with classic patterns like Connect The Dots, Brandon Berry, and Retro Fit, which speaks for itself. While you’ll only find two designs in the Spoleto Collection, Nepal Scroll is one of the more unique designs in their catalog and Impressions will leave a strong one behind.
The American Heritage Collection is one of the more varied selections in regards to style. Armada is a geometric pattern in shades of grey, while Distressed and Waves are also grey but with an abstract design. Sycamore Lambswool lightens up on the greys while mixing in light brown hues. Consumers interested in an area rug with a more traditional design will want to consider Promenade or Funhouse.
While there are only three styles of rugs between the Portland and Nuance Collections, each brings something unique to the table. Twilight Black is the darkest rug they sell while Lily Taupe is more traditional, and comes in four different sizes along with a 2’3” x 8’ matching runner. If you’re partial to the classic medallion pattern, consider a rug from the Bohemian Collection instead.
Shag Rugs from Orian
Shag Rugs from Orian
In addition to low-pile rugs, Orian has three shad rug collections that set themselves apart from the rest of the company’s catalog. The Shag-Ri-La Collection is the smallest with two styles in Plateau and Abstract. They are made from polypropylene like the rest of the company’s lineup but are considerably thicker.
That same feel continues with the Impressions Collection from Orian. Circle Bloom has a similar design to Duchess Blue from Shag-Ri-La but in a different color scheme. It’s available in three sizes, just like Brigim Cooper, which features a series of overlapping circles. Circle Design Bisque replaces those circles with color blocks, and Sundown switches things up with horizontal stripes.
You’ll find a familiar-looking pattern in the Super Shag Collection with Sycamore Ivory. While the design is essentially the same, this rug is thicker due to its shaggy nature. The company’s Multi-Solid and Multi-Textured rug may not have an exciting moniker, but it does open the doors to a number of color schemes in any room where it’s placed.
Orian Rugs Cost and Availability
Orian may not have the global reach of some carpet and rug manufacturers we cover like Shaw or Mohawk, but their rugs are easy to acquire almost anywhere in the United States. You can find their products through most major retailers including Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Wayfair.
When it comes to pricing, Orian is one of the more affordable options. All of the rugs we checked were listed as machine-made which keeps the cost down, and you can find larger sizes at a nice price from the company. On average, you can pay between $80.00 to $700 depending on the style and size you’re partial to.
Orian Rugs Pros, Cons, and Ratings
Pricing is one reason to like Orian rugs, but we felt they had a nice selection of varied styles as well. They aren’t the biggest name nor do they have the most extensive catalog, but their area rugs are well-received. They are a brand you should consider if you’re looking for an area rug made in the United States, and one of the best options in this range.
