Stark Carpet Reviews and Prices 2023

Some carpet manufacturers in the United States pride themselves on products produced locally or nationally. While you can find plenty of rugs made in the U.S. from Stark, that’s not what this globetrotting company is known for. Stark Carpet has furnished homes and businesses for over 75 years and is still going strong today with fine carpet sourced from all over the world.

Stark Carpet History

In 1938, this family-owned brand was started by Arthur Stark and his wife Nadia. While they began selling rugs, it wasn’t long before they moved into carpet and introduced Americans to European styles. They have helped to furnish the White House since 1961 and made one of their first major acquisitions in 1992 when they purchased Old World Weavers.

A few years later, Stark took their business overseas by introducing a showroom in London, and they’ve been expanding ever since. Over the past decade, they purchased Decorative Carpets, merged their fabric division with The House of Scalamandré, and introduced the world to the first hand-knotted silk broadloom carpet in 2018.

Starks Carpet Collections

Finding a style of carpet you like from Stark is simple thanks to their intuitive website. You could spend the day browsing through their more than 3,600 designs, but filters allow you to narrow things down through construction, fiber, and collection. At this time, there are around 15 active collections from the company including their Designer Collaboration series.

Stark’s Eternal Collection features 28 styles that are a mix of hand-woven and hand-made flatweave carpets. You can find smooth solids like Twila and Shetland alongside the patriotic Starland, which is made in the USA. While the styles and countries of origin vary wildly, every carpet in this collection is made from 100% Polypropylene.

If you prefer natural fibers to synthetics, there are plenty of options from Stark including the Revel Collection. There are only six styles, but each is a loop-pile carpet made from 100% Wool with Wilton weave construction. Flex is an attention grabber, while Macbeth will add a bit of European charm to any room in your home.

The Missoni Home Collection has more wool carpeting including several styles mixed with synthetic fibers. It’s also their largest and most vibrant collection thanks to unique options like Zucca and Baci. Both of those are 100% Wool, but the colorful Fleury is made from a mix of 80% Wool and 20% Nylon. Fleury is made with Axminster construction whereas Fiore is constructed from printed nylon.

Another interesting collection from Stark Carpet is called Halycon. There are five different styles in this collection, and all are made from 100% Silk fibers. These hand-loomed carpets are all cut-pile, except for Whitley Diamond, which is pattered with a tip-shear pile.

Odeza Collection

While this carpet comes at a premium, the Odeza Collection is a bit more budget-friendly. The majority of the carpet in this collection features a face-to-face Wilton weave and is made from a mixture of Polyester or Polypropylene.

Trail is a colorful carpet style made from 50% Polyester and 50% Polypropylene, but Arte is 100% Polypropylene. There are also a handful of carpets made from a mixture of Wool and fibers like Viscose and Nylon carpets with Talas, Lorde, Reegan, and Florian.

Designer Collaborations Series

In addition to Stark’s traditional carpet collections, the company also frequently collaborates with designers. Of the four designers, the David Hicks Collection has the most to choose from with six woolen carpets and Octagram, which is made from 100% Nylon and comes from Turkey.

The rest of the carpeting in this collection is constructed from 100% wool and produced in the United States. Between the Alexa Hampton, Charlotte Moss, and Jeffrey Bilhuber Collections, you’ll find around a half-dozen styles of carpet. All are Wool and woven with Wilton weave construction and produced in Spain.

Services from Stark Carpet

Stark offers a range of services along with its vast collection of carpets and rugs. Whether you can take advantage of these perks depends on where you reside, but they can handle everything from start to finish.

If you want Stark to handle your entire project, you can rely on their consultation service. Homeowners that know what carpet they want, but aren’t sure how much they need can use the company’s in-home measuring service as well.

Stark Carpet Cost and Availability

Homeowners interested in purchasing Stark carpet for their home will need to live near a showroom if you’re interested in seeing some of their beautiful carpets in person. As a luxury brand, you may have difficulty obtaining their carpet in certain parts of the United States, despite their global reach.

You will need to go through an interior designer or large distributor to order Stark, so there is no information on pricing, aside from a Closeout section that gives pricing on rugs. Given the price on their rugs range from around $16 to $150 on sale, you can expect to pay a premium for any carpet from Stark’s collections.

Conclusion

Stark stands out in a sea of carpet distributors because of their selection and the variety of techniques used in the construction of the carpet they carry.  From hand-hooked to Axminster, there are dozens of methods used by their artisans, and we appreciate the wealth of information on the carpet they carry as well.

You can find key stats like pile height and pattern repetition alongside the country of origin for each style of carpet they carry. If you’re interested in high-end carpet for your home or next renovation project, you can find out more information on Stark Carpet at the link below.
